Foxboro, MA – In the team’s first match without captain Shalrie Joseph in almost ten years, the New England Revolution could not find the back of the net Saturday night as their sloppy play continued against Sporting Kansas City.  The Revolution settled for a draw against Sporting last meeting, but Jay Heap’s army clearly looked like a team still stunned from the Joseph trade tonight.

Teal Bunbury’s breakaway goal in the 20th minute would be the only one of the match, putting Kansas City up 1-0 in a rather dry and uneventful game .  Major changes would decide the success of the Revs since Dimitry Imbongo would get the nod at forward, while Darrius Barnes and Florian Lechner would have to cover for the injured A.J. Soares in the back.  Even some late substitutions could not put the Revolution at par with Sporting, but the real question to ask tonight is: Do we already miss Shalrie Joseph?

It has been a rough season for New England fans, and the future only looks bleak without the face of the franchise.  Tonight’s loss marked the 5th win-less game in a row, and ultimately shrunk playoff hopes to a minimum.  Losing Shalrie will take awhile to accept, but the easiest way to mend the Joseph pain is winning.  The Revs will look next to the Montreal Impact, in a home outing on Sunday, August 12th.
